Nicole Tavel DVM, CVA
Dr. Nicole Tavel grew up on a horse farm in Indiana. After graduation from Purdue University in 2006, she completed an internship in equine surgery and medicine at Elgin Veterinary Hospital in Texas. Drawn to the sunshine, and the opportunity to work on a large and diverse population of horses, Dr. Tavel began an equine ambulatory practice in Phoenix in 2008. Since this time, she has become certified in acupuncture and takes a personal interest in the overall health and comfort of each individual patient. Dr. Tavel uses an integration of Eastern and Western Medical modalities to promote optimal health and performance. Although she greatly enjoys contributing to the success of the performance horse, Dr. Tavel also has a strong interest in geriatrics, pain management, and rehabilitation. When she is not spending time with her equine patients, Dr. Tavel can be found running - either on a trail through the mountains or after her two little daughters.
Ashley Rankin Veterinary Technician
Ashley is a Phoenix native and grew up riding horses and hiking the mountains with her dogs. She completed her veterinary technician certification 13 years ago in San Diego. After returning to the valley she spent many years as a small animal surgical technician. Returning to the horses she loves, Ashley joined Dr. Tavel as an equine technician 6 years ago. In her free time she volunteers at the zoo and works with exotic animals. Ashley’s family includes a French bulldog, Sphynx cats and an adorable son named Thor that keeps her on her toes every day. She adores working with the animals and feels fortunate to have seen many amazing cases and met many wonderful people along the way.
